Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum

Today's day trip...

"The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum & Planetarium are located in the gardens of beautiful Rosicrucian Park, amidst buildings inspired by ancient Egyptian temples. Papyrus-lined paths lead visitors past walls carved with hieroglyphs, clustered lotus columns, elaborate fountains, and colossal statues of Egyptian gods."

I took the kids to this museum, hoping to prime them for the big King Tut exhibit in San Francisco.

While I wasn't able to take photos inside- I did take many pictures of the surrounding park and buildings.

Entering the Peace Garden.

We also saw a show in the Planetarium called The Mithraic Mysteries.

Did you know? The Rosicrucian Planetarium opened in 1936,
and was the first American-built planetarium.

Was it always an Egyptian Museum? If not, when did that tranformation occur?
